The real Wow! Effect
The effects created by painters on canvas can be awe-inspiring. Every brushstroke matters. Each layer contributes to the final quality. But how does it happen?
Art begins with craftsmanship
The final impression – experienced by the viewers – comes from the artist’s imagination, unique talent, courage to explore, and trained skills.
It is created through true handcraft. Paint is placed on the canvas layer by layer, often mixed not only on the palette, but directly on the surface. This process gives paintings their depth, texture, and life.
Experience the details
When you look at an oil painting, notice the play of light, rich texture, and colours. Approach the canvas closely: admire brushstrokes, colour transitions, and layering. All is visible. Step back: the full composition emerges, revealing figures and forms. Then you see the story told by the artist’s vision.
I often encourage viewers to slightly squint their eyes – a subtle trick can enhance depth and 3D effects, letting the painting breathe fully. It makes the real final impact.
